Job Summary

The ACO Network Operations Intern will provide key support to the MHN team managing the everyday operations of the MHN ACO, a provider-owned Accountable Care Organization managed and operated by MHN. This position will be responsible for supporting the team's value-based contracting and provider network management functions. This position will offer the opportunity to refine and improve policy research, analysis, and communication skills, and enhance knowledge of value-based healthcare programming and clinically integrated networks. The Operations and Network Management Intern is classified as a non-exempt employee and reports to the Manager, Delivery Transformation and Value Based Initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Drafting communications and reporting to key stakeholders, including relevant documentation of processes for ongoing, contractually required, or serial communications
  • Collaborating within MHN to design, generate, and assemble materials related to MHN AC0 committee meetings, quarterly meetings, and production materials
  • Focusing on key initiatives, such as Medicaid Open Choice or Medicaid Redetermination, to track AC0 efforts and identify opportunities for further engagement and increased operational support
  • Assisting with development, roll-out, and ongoing maintenance of a Provider Relationship Management system by working with an interdisciplinary team, duties may include:
    • Project documentation assistance and support
    • Providing data collection and aggregation support
    • Ongoing data entry and data integrity monitoring
    • Tracking, Analyzing, and synthesizing information related to;
    • CMS policy changes regarding the Medicare and Medicaid programs
    • Illinois HFS policy changes related to Medicaid, covered populations, and Medicaid managed care
    • The Illinois HFS Medicaid Managed Care RFP
    • Changes in the national, state, and local political landscapes
    • Other programmatic research relevant to the operations of MHN and MHN ACO


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with research and policy analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Required Education

B.A./ S.S. in Health Policy, Public Pol cy, or related field. Master's preferred

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment, and physical presence and regular attendance are essential functions of the job. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time internship position that regularly requires 40 hours work weeks.
